Day program transportation in New Jersey: a practical checklist
Updated April 2026 · (908) 360-1110
Reliable day program transportation is about more than miles—it is about showing up on time, communicating with families, and respecting the routines that help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities thrive. At Real Life Choices Transit, we built our operation around those daily rhythms.
1. Pickup windows and consistency
Ask how tight pickup windows are and what happens when a participant is running a few minutes late. Same driver teams and predictable sequences reduce anxiety for riders and caregivers.
2. A real office—not just an app
When something changes (weather, program closure, early dismissal), you need a dispatcher who answers. Our Bernardsville-based team supports routes across thirteen counties.
3. Vehicles and training
Door-to-door service should match the participant’s mobility and behavioral needs. Ask about driver training, vehicle maintenance, and how escorts or aides are coordinated with the day program.
